SKY YUTAKA is design studio based in Hong Kong providing consultancy service in Architecture, Landscape and Design. The studio is founded by Sarah Kwok Yan (SKY) Lee and Yutaka Yano who have extensive years of professional experience in multidisciplinary international architecture practices in both Europe and Asia. Always working in close collaboration with the client, the studio strives to deliver good quality design solutions within the constraints of each and every project.
Design research is an important part of SKY YUTAKA’s design practice: The studio invests great deal of effort in analysing the unique context arising from the background of every project. Often there are continuation of thought process amongst different projects linked by the studio’s on-going preoccupation and subject matters on history, culture, technology and materiality. Testing design ideas through making things and prototypes are another important part of the studio’s practice. The studio continuously strive to improve the craft and skills in architectural creation with every new project and design opportunities.
The studio’s design essentially aspires towards the future while remaining respectful and critical of the culture and history of place. Producing project-specific designs using careful analysis of the characteristics arising from the circumstances of each project, together with technical knowledge and aesthetic judgement, SKY YUTAKA continue to build on existing foundation of the studio know-how and expertise.
