Kinetic Installation at Clockenflap 2018

ACOUSTIC LIGHT is an event-specific installation developed in response to Hong Kong’s annual Arts and Music Festival Clockenflap which took place during 9th to 11th of November 2018. Responding to the event theme “Sensoria” SKY YUTAKA contributed to the event by continuing on our ongoing development of our ‘Architecture of Shade’ research work.

Set against the spectacular backdrop of Hong Hong Harbour, the interactive kinetic installation visualises the natural environment through activation by wind and audio sensors, which translate prevailing winds and sound from the Festival’s live music performances into a choreography of movement of wings and lighting.

In it’s 10th Anniversary, Clockenflap creates a much-needed platform which supports a diverse cultural mix of live music, performance and arts to engage the public. Special thanks to Jay Forster, Cherry Chan and team for their vision, support and professionalism in realisation of the work, plus the live sets by musicians and DJ’s and curious children which activated the installation.
