Vertical Winery Room

Microwinery Facility, Hong Kong

SKY YUTAKA were invited to imagine a project for the ‘Spend It’ column of June issue of SCMP’s Style Magazine. Taking on the brief for designing a micro winery for wine lovers, we took on the challenge for designing an extraordinary wine brewery space which combines the luxury of making wine in the fully articulated basement cellar whilst being able to enjoy the vertical nature of Hong Kong. Through exploring ways of utilising Hong Kong’s existing conditions such as the humid climate and combining with technology to create an environment favourable to bespoke wine making.
We would like to express our special thanks to Daniel Wang for his support in the visualisations, David Littler and Henry Chan of Buro Happold for a fun and insightful brainstorming session and Eugenia for her informal sharing into the wine industry.
