In celebration of the partnership between Lane Crawford and Swarovski, SKY YUTAKA created their latest interactive ‘Light Flower’ installation for an exclusive exhibition as part of Shanghai Fashion Week. The exhibition is part of Swarovski and Lane Crawford celebration of their recent 165th and 120th anniversaries respectively.
Responding to a brief which called for an exploration of contrasts between what can be taken from the past to create something for the future, SKY YUTAKA focused on traditional paper crafting and worked with one of the few remaining sifu in Hong Kong to learn techniques of the trade.
Incorporating a diverse range of materials from carefully selected Swarovski crystals, lighting, electronics, metal, perspex, bamboo and shoji-paper, the design process lead the team to integrate both traditional and modern production methodology and explore the specific techniques required.
‘Light Flower’ will become part of Swarovski’s prestigious Archive and their international travelling exhibition.
